I grew up in Santa Cruz, where the redwoods march to the sea, and that eclectic and bohemian town has greatly influenced my artistic sensibilities. Starting in my teen-age years, I became obsessed with martial arts. This led to a multi-year stay in Japan, where I became a believer in the value of repetition and disciplined training. These two differing ideas: the free thinking creativity of my hometown and the repetitive hard training of fighting, forms my approach to art.

As a potter and ceramic artist, I am largely self-taught; learning through books, other potters’ works, and most importantly, many hours behind the wheel and in the studio. I strive to make pots with skill and creativity. Pots that elevate a space. Pots that have their own energy. Pots that people look forward to using again and again.

My works can be found in homes and gardens throughout Northern California and nationwide, and have been featured in shows and exhibitions around Northern California.I particularly enjoy taking part in art tours such as Open Studios.
